Question: How is the fee for laser hair removal determined?  By the time required for the procedure or the area treated? Does the time take the same in an area whether there is abundant hair present or not?

Answer:  Laser hair removal fees are usually determined by the surface area that is required for treatment and this obviously then is also directly proportional to the amount of time that is required to treat the area.  Whether or not there is abundant hair present in that area is rather irrelevant since we are going to have to treat the entire area whether or not there are several hairs or thousands of hairs.  There certainly are patients that just require spot treatments for small areas with a small amount of hair, but we would obviously charge less if we were only treating a small area.

Question: I am 56-year-old and have a full beard. I would like laser hair removal on the upper part of my cheeks so that I do not have to shave that area anymore. Can beard hair be removed permanently using this procedure?

Answer: Yes, beard hair can definitely be removed permanently using laser hair removal, though we always caution patients that it may not remove 100% of the hairs permanently and that there may be a few remaining hairs that simply will not respond to the treatment. We can; however, get rid of 90% or even much more of the current hair so that the remaining hairs are typically not much of a nuisance and overall patients are extremely satisfied.

Question: How often do most women need to get a laser hair removal treatment on their legs, or once the hair is gone are there no more treatments necessary?

Answer: If patients will consistently see us during their laser hair removal sessions on a regular basis, which is typically somewhere between a 1 and 2 month time interval, and we get the expected significant reduction of hair, this is a permanent result and they should not have any new hair growth after this. Now with that being said, seldom do we get 100% of all hairs so there typically are a few stragglers remaining that if the patient desires they can return to see us for additional hair removal treatments, but we certainly never guarantee that 100% of all hairs are going to be completely gone. So the time period where patients will see us, may be once or twice a year.
