Cheek Augmentation/Implants
Full cheeks give definition to the face and create an overall youthful appearance. If the cheeks are the problem area, implants can be used to enhance the contours of the face and balance other facial features. For those patients who do not desire an implant, Dr. Campbell can perform an endoscopic mid facelift to enhance the cheek area.
Cheek Augmentation Candidates
Patients who have thin, flat cheeks or a sunken appearance can benefit from cheek implants offered at our Wisconsin practice. Fat pads that give the cheeks definition can move, flatten, and even disappear with age, creating a bony appearance that enhances the look of wrinkles and lines. Cheek implants add definition to the cheek area, while balancing other facial features for a more youthful appearance.
Personal Cheek Augmentation Consultation
Dr. Campbell will examine the cheek area and choose the correct size of cheek implants for the look you desire. Often times, the final sizing of the implants will be done in the operating room using "sizers" so that Dr. Campbell can determine which size implant provides the most desirable enhancement.
The Cheek Augmentation Procedure
During cheek augmentation surgery, incisions are placed in the mouth above the upper teeth. The cheek implants are placed over the bony portion of the cheek and are frequently secured with a tiny dissolvable screw.
Recovery Following Cheek Augmentation
Recovery for augmentation with cheek implants at Campbell Facial Plastic Surgery in Wisconsin is typically mild. As with chin augmentation, slight swelling can last several weeks to several months and make the cheeks look over-augmented, but downtime is typically less than one week.
Cheek Augmentation Results
The fuller, more youthful appearance of the cheek area and overall facial contours created by cheek implants is visible immediately after surgery and the results last a lifetime. Due to swelling, final results may not be visible for several months after the surgery.
