A youthful face is comprised of many elements, one being beautiful, smooth cheeks. As the face ages and the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid slow, the mid-face loses volume and the structure begins to break down. Women and men are then left with flattened or hollow cheeks that detract from a harmonious facial appearance.
Dr. Campbell is the only Allergan Medical Facial Aesthetic (AMFAST) trainer in Wisconsin, making him the first physician injector in the state to be able to offer the exciting new product Juvederm Voluma XC to his patients. This facial filler is another of the many wonderful injectables available on the market, but is designed specifically to increase volume in the cheeks and give a subtle lift.
What is Juvederm Voluma?
Juvederm Voluma is an advanced facial filler containing hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance in the body that brings moisture to the skin. Unlike regular Juvederm, Voluma also contains the same smooth, moldable gel as Vycross. By combining the two, Allergan has created a cross-linked filler that is FDA approved for use in the apex, apple, and hollows of the cheeks.
Benefits of Juvederm Voluma
Juvederm Voluma offers many benefits. It is a quick non-surgical procedure, taking approximately 20 minutes. Little discomfort is felt with the procedure since a topical anesthetic is typically used. No downtime is required following injection of Voluma into the cheeks, and patients will be able to see their results immediately. While many facial fillers offer results that last 6-12 months, Juvederm Voluma results can be seen in the contour and profile of the face for at least 2 years in the far majority of patients.
Am I a good candidate for Juvederm Voluma?
Candidates for Juvederm Voluma injections are female and male patients interested in facial rejuvenation who wish to restore volume to their mid-face. Although facial filler injections are considered a non-surgical procedure, patients over 21 years of age must be in good health and have a realistic outlook on the capabilities of the product before treatment. Juvederm Voluma is designed specifically for the cheek area. Other fillers may be needed to address wrinkles and lines in the lower and upper regions of the face. The procedure may, however, reduce the need for use of other wrinkle fillers in the mid-face.
Juvederm Voluma Results
Dr. Campbell has extensive experience as a physician injector working with various facial fillers. He is enthusiastic about being able to offer Juvederm Voluma as the next generation of injectables. Patients in need of increased cheek volume can expect to experience long-lasting results and may see additional benefits when combining Voluma injections with Botox and wrinkle fillers for a complete facial rejuvenation.
There is no recovery time following injection of facial fillers, although patients may experience some bruising, swelling, and redness. These side effects are minor and temporary.
