As a small boy I wanted to be an artist, but the scientist in me also wanted to be a surgeon. I was able to combine these two gifts and become a facial plastic surgeon, enabling my patients to reap the benefits of my training and my expertise. I truly have a passion for facial plastic surgery. It’s always exciting to see patients come back to see me after their surgical care is complete. They come in with a smile on their face, they are more confident, they feel better about themselves. A twelve year old girl came and saw me with her parents. Her ears were protruding, she always wore her long black hair down in front of her ears to prevent people from seeing them. She underwent an otoplasty, where the ears were set back into a more natural position and it was so exciting to see her come in with her hair pulled up in a bun and a smile on her face. Her parents were almost in tears because she had never worn her hair behind or above her ears before. It is so gratifying to be able to see the changes I can make in peoples lives. To make them happier, to make them more self confident and to feel better about themselves.
